Social Meme is an open-source meme app published by SepeTech and created by George Sepetadelis. This page explains what data the app handles. Because the app is open source, you can verify all of this in the public GitHub repository.
Browsing anonymously
You can browse the meme feed without creating an account. In anonymous mode we do not associate your activity with a personal profile. Creating an account is only required to post memes, react, comment, vote in duels and collect trophies.
What we collect
- Account data - if you sign up, basic profile details such as a username.
- Content you create - memes, comments, reactions and duel votes you submit.
- Device and usage data - app analytics and crash diagnostics to keep the app stable, plus a push notification token if you opt in to notifications.
- Streak data - daily activity used to track your streak, stored largely on your device.
Content moderation - the Bouncer
To keep the community safe, every post is screened by our moderation system, the Bouncer, before it reaches the feed. The Bouncer checks images, video frames and text for nudity, explicit content and abuse, and blocks anything that violates the rules. Known-bad media is fingerprinted so the same content cannot be re-uploaded. Moderation runs on our own infrastructure.
How we use data
We use your data to operate core features (the feed, editor, duels, Hall of Legends and streaks), to send notifications you opt in to, to keep the community safe, and to fix bugs and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data.
Advertising
The app may display ads. Advertising partners may process limited device identifiers to serve relevant ads, subject to their own policies and your device settings.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and associated content from within the app. If you need help, contact us at info@sepetech.com and we will assist with removal.
Children
Social Meme is not intended for children under the age required by your local laws and the app stores' policies. Do not use the app if you are below that age.
