The fine print

Terms of Use

The rules for using Social Meme. Last updated May 2026.

Social Meme is an open-source meme app published by SepeTech and created by George Sepetadelis. By using the app you agree to these terms. Because the app is open source, you can verify how it works in the public GitHub repository.

Using the app

You can browse anonymously without an account. An account is needed to post memes, react, comment, vote in duels and collect trophies. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you create. By posting, you grant Social Meme a licence to host, display and distribute that content within the app so it can appear in the feed, duels and the Hall of Legends. Only post content you have the right to share.

Acceptable content

  • No nudity, sexual or explicit content.
  • No harassment, hate, threats or content that targets people.
  • No illegal content, spam or attempts to game rankings.
  • No impersonation or sharing others' private information.

Moderation - the Bouncer

Every post is screened by our moderation system, the Bouncer, before it reaches the feed. It checks images, video frames and text for nudity, explicit content and abuse, and blocks anything that breaks the rules. Known-bad media is fingerprinted so it cannot be re-uploaded. We may remove content, and suspend or remove accounts, that violate these terms.

Reporting and enforcement

You can report posts and profiles in the app. Reports are reviewed and may trigger an automated re-scan. Abusing the report system is itself a violation.

Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is", without warranties. To the extent allowed by law, SepeTech is not liable for damages arising from your use of the app. We may change or discontinue features at any time.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
